Community Involvement

Our schools are in a fortunate position not only because of our locations in beautiful Orange County, and Ontario, Calif., but because of our strong and enduring community relationships and partnerships. Port View Preparatory® takes student education beyond the classroom because our team strongly believes that community involvement is beneficial to the intellectual, emotional and social growth of our special education students. Some of Port View Prep’s activities include visits to everyday places like local grocery stores for weekly shopping of needed items on campus, recreational outings to parks, libraries and other stimulating trips. Community involvement is advantageous for all children and adolescents, not only those with complex challenges. When schools, the community and parents join forces for the betterment of students, improvements in overall well-being, learning and self-esteem are seen.

"You guys are a new school but your experience and the love for the students are not. You guys are in the right field. You guys are impacting our children's lives and families in such beautiful way."
- Gilda Bates
"To be honest with you, I haven't had a worry or care in the world about Mikey's safety since he started at PVP."
- Rachel Darr
"My husband was just telling me how much he has seen an improvement in Wendy's behavior. She doesn't seem angry with herself, she seems content with herself, kind of like comfortable with herself, like she's going to be ok knowing she has everyone's support.  She will have difficult days I'm sure but hopefully less aggressive but she will know she will always have  our love, I am cherishing these days and more to come, thanks to you and all the staff."
- Rosa Soto
"My son had been to different Non Public Schools but nothing compared to Port View. We finally found the right and great  school for him. We feel at peace now sending him to school knowing that people will take care of him and able to handle his behaviors. We are so grateful because of this."
- Veronica Barin

The Tools for Success

Positive community involvement is also proven to foster valuable relationships that consistently result in sharing and maximizing resources. Port View Prep believes in instruction within and outside the classroom. Many of our students are assigned an iPad to support age appropriate learning within class and on educational field trips. In addition to being used for data collection, the tablets serve a practical purpose if students need help expressing themselves. For example, at a recent outing to a local recreation facility, several of our students were able to order their own lunch using the iPad. Seeing their smiles from achieving that independent act is priceless.

Our aim is to provide students with the tools to be successful and live fulfilled lives during their time at Port View Preparatory® and after graduation. We offer students opportunities to volunteer at community agencies and they’re able to articulate that giving back is just as valuable, if not more, than receiving. Port View Prep also believes in conserving natural resources and recognizes environmental activities like Earth Day, and builds community curriculum around it when appropriate. Our students are also proud to assist those less fortunate by participating in school-led donations and drives for local charitable organizations. All of these community activities build a sense of pride in our students and helps charter the path to a positive and successful experience at Port View Preparatory® and in life.

Port View Preparatory® believes that community involvement is an integral part of a truly successful school and our program was designed with careful intent.
