The PVP Occupational and Recreational Gym
The PVP Occupational and Recreation Gym houses the dynamic fitness program at Port View Preparatory, where students embark on a journey towards holistic well-being. Our comprehensive physical education curriculum goes beyond traditional boundaries, offering tailored fitness training for students of all abilities. Under the guidance of experienced instructors, participants engage in a variety of activities designed to enhance cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, and overall physical fitness. With an emphasis on inclusivity, our program ensures that every student can actively participate and reap the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle. Join us in fostering a culture of well-rounded wellness, where fitness becomes a lifelong foundation for a vibrant future.
Every week, students from Port View Prep will receive 30-minute training sessions by a coach or Occupational Therapist. Training has been adapted for students with complex challenges and includes:
- Functional Movement: squatting, sitting, pushing, pulling, side steps, backwards walking, etc.
- Weighted Movement: lifting from squat, carrying, pushing, pulling.
- Resisted movement: pulling, side steps, reverse movement.
- Coordinated movement: choreographed sequences, mirroring, synchronous and asynchronous instruction.
- Structured play: kickball, tag, dodgeball (modified), soccer, relay races.
